Is it important for me to know how the pump and circulation system on my pool works? Where can I get more information on pool safety?

Yes, it’s imperative. In an emergency you’ll need to be able to shut the pump and/or power to your pool IMMEDIATELY. Those precious seconds spent trying to find out where the switches are or what each valve does might cost the life of a loved one.

Circulation systems, On/Off switches, valve settings, power supplies are all extremely simple to understand. ANY competent pool guy can walk you through it. All adults and young adults living in a pool home should be knowledgeable about the pump/circulation system. Of equal importance is having On/Off switches labeled as well as valve settings. You may not be the one having to shut it down in an emergency. It may be a baby sitter or house guest who has not been trained on your system.

To those folks who are intent on keeping their pool safe, we applaud your effort. Too many people place pool safety toward the end of their "things to do" list. If we can be of assistance in your safety efforts, don't hesitate to call. Information is free for the asking.

Is a salt water swimming pool or an ozone healthier if your dog drinks the water?

There shouldn't be a serious problem either way.

Do you need to drain a swimming pool to change from a chlorine to a salt water?

It is not necessary to drain it to change it over to salt water.

How many gallons are in a swimming pool?

A good "in-the-ballpark" answer could be attained by applying the following formula.

Number of gallons in a rectangular p.= Length (in feet)x width (in feet)x average depth (in feet) x 7.4

Number of gallons in a circular or rounded p.=(the same three variables)x 6

How do you drain a swimming pool?

We recommend that you use a professional to drain it for you.

Why are phosphates in my swimming pool?

Phosphates get into you pool through basically two methods. The first is due to chemicals being used in your yard that unintentionally are introduced into it. The second method for phosphates to get into it is through certain types of chemicals (especially tile cleaners).

How do you measure water evaporation?

To measure water evaporation you will need to turn off the auto-fill and place a watertight container (preferable a bucket) into the water and fill it up to the same water level as the pool. It may help to place something heavy in the bottom of the bucket to stop it from floating (this will have no influence on the measurement process). Over the course of a week or two keep and eye on the bucket water level compared to the water level in general. Since both the bucket and pool should evaporate at the same level, if you notice the pool level lower than the bucket level it is likely that you have a leak.

How do you clean pool tile?

Trying to clean calcium deposits from tile is best left to a professional tile cleaner. We can remove it for you via pumice stones in most cases.

How do you clean the surface of a Murky pool?

One of the best ways to start the process of cleaning murky pool water is to thoroughly clean off the surface of the water and make sure the filter is clean. Call us if you have any questions or concerns.

How much acid do you add to a swimming pool?

Acid is added to lower the PH level. Because of this how much acid you add depends on not only the size but also the PH level that your pool is at. Use your test kit to determine the amount of acid is necessary....or call us!

How do you lower the Chlorine level in a swimming pool?

The easiest way to lower the chlorine level in a pool is to dilute the chlorine saturated water with chlorine free water by partially draining the pool water level and refilling what was drained with fresh water. Once you have done this you should have lowered the level enough to start the process of balancing the pool again.
-OR-
A less costly way is to add a chlorine neutralizer to your pool water.

Why would pool water be green?

Most likely your pool water is green due to algae in the pool. Algae can be corrected through a few processes. Try shocking with liquid chlorine. If the algae keeps returning, have your water tested.

What can I do to stop the calcium on my pool tile from building up again?

If your water is hard it is important for the pool owner to understand that in the long run, unless you are willing to put in a lot of time scrubbing, you are going to lose the fight against calcium buildup...if it is in the water it will get on your tiles.

To assist an owner in slowing down the process we would recommend that the owner, at least once a week, get into their pool and scrubs the tile. It is important that you do this before the white calcium begins to build up, do it while the tile still looks good. If your tile is already covered then call us before your scheduled maintenance.

If you scrub the tile, especially at the water line and spillways, before you see buildup occurring then you will manage to put off the unavoidable expense of paying us to pumice the tile...an elbow breaking process!
